Employment Opportunity: Community Recreation Coordinator

The Town of Clarenville is presently accepting applications for the position of Community Recreation Coordinator. This position is a full-time TEMPORARY-Maternity Replacement.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Recreation and will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing inclusive community recreation programs, special events, ceremonies & sporting events.


  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Recreation or Recreation Diploma. Other combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Have at least 5 year’s experience in the recreation programming field preferably in a Municipal environment.
  • The incumbent should have considerable knowledge and experience in the organization and delivery of recreation, sport, and wellness programs.
  • Candidates must possess initiative and demonstrate good organizational, analytical, communications and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work independently.
  • Project management experience including budget preparation, funding applications and report writing is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Other combination of education & experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a recent certificate of conduct, medical certificate, must be bondable and hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekends shifts may be required.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
