PUBLIC CONSULTATION: Municipal Plan Amendment No. 2, 2024, and Development Regulations Amendment No. 2, 2024

The general public is invited to view a draft copy of the Town of Clarenville Municipal Plan Amendment No. 2, 2024, and Development Regulations Amendment No. 2, 2024.

The proposed Municipal Plan Amendment No. 2, 2024, will introduce new Municipal Plan Policy that will allow remote cottages to continue as a recognized use and new cottages may be developed on a case-by-case basis only in the Tourism Resource and Rural Land Use Designations. Remote cottages will only be permitted, as a discretionary use, along existing roads. It is the intent of this policy to approve remote cottage dwellings that are accessible by existing resource roads, ATV, snowmobile, or by hiking.

Development Regulations Amendment No. 2, 2024, proposes to add remote cottages as a discretionary use in the Tourism Resource (TR) and Rural (RUR) Land Use Zone Tables, Schedule C. The Amendment will also add Remote Cottages to the list of examples for Single Residential Use, Classification of Uses of Land and Buildings, Schedule B.

The public may provide any comments or concerns on the proposed change to the Town in writing before Council proceeds with adopting the proposed amendments.

The Town of Clarenville draft Municipal Plan Amendment No. 2, 2024, andDevelopment Regulations Amendment No. 2, 2024, shall be on display January 27, 2025, to February 7, 2025, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Town Hall, Clarenville.

The deadline for written comments shall be 4:00 pm, February 7, 2025.
