On October 2, 2025, Clarenville residents will elect a new Town Council. The nomination day for the 2025 Clarenville Municipal Election will be on Thursday, September 4th.
A person is qualified to be nominated as a candidate if they are:
- A Canadian Citizen, 18 years of age or older and eligible to vote in an election in the Town of Clarenville
- Not in arrears of taxes or other charges payable to the municipality of Clarenville
- Ordinarily, a resident in the Town of Clarenville for a period of 30 days before the commencement of the nomination period.
- Not otherwise disqualified under the Municipal Elections Act
Nominations must be in writing and state the name and residence of the candidate, and be signed by the proposer and seconder. The proposer and seconder must be eligible to vote in this election, meaning they must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older and a resident of the Town of Clarenville for at least 30 days immediately before election day. There is a non-refundable nomination fee of $10 payable at time of nomination.

Important Dates to Remember
- Candidate Nomination Day – Thursday, September 4th from 8 am-8 pm located at the Town Office
- Advance Poll Days – Saturday, September 20th & Saturday September 27th from 8 am-8 pm located at the Town Office
- Election Day – Thursday, October 2nd from 8 am-8pm – Clarenville Polling Station will be the Clarenville Lion’s Club, Shoal Harbour Polling Station will be the United Church in Shoal Harbour.
