Infrastructure Upgrades: Lower Shoal Hr. River Bridge Rehabilitation

July 31, 2025

What are we doing?
Rehabilitation of the Lower Shoal Harbour River Bridge. Rehab work items include expansion joint replacement, construction of new approach slabs, various concrete repairs, replacement of deck drains, asphalt removal/reinstatement on bridge deck and approaches and waterproofing of bridge deck, repairs to aluminum bridge barriers, guide rail, sidewalk and curb & gutter removal/reinstatement on approaches, and undermining repairs.

NOTE: As part of the infrastructure upgrades, the bridge will be reduced to 1 lane of traffic at all times. In addition, there will be portable traffic signals utilized to manage traffic during construction and when the contractor isn’t working. Also, please note the use of the pedestrian bridge will not be available once construction starts due to safety concerns and the area north of the bridge being used as a construction staging/lay down area.

Why?
To provide residents with an improved and more reliable road infrastructure.

When?
We expect to start work on or about August 4th, 2025. The first week will mostly be preparation, i.e.: setting up traffic control, mobilization of materials and equipment. Construction is anticipated to last until approximately October 17th, 2025.
