UTILITY WORKER – PARKS & RECREATION (TEMPORARY)

The Town of Clarenville is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our Parks & Recreation team as a Utility Worker. This full-time, TEMPORARY position plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall operation of our recreational facilities.

Location: Clarenville Events Centre & Elizabeth Swan Park
Start Date: As soon as possible

Position Overview
The Utility Worker is responsible for daily janitorial and general maintenance duties at the Clarenville Events Centre during the ice season. During the summer months, the role transitions to Elizabeth Swan Park, supporting the upkeep and maintenance of park facilities and assisting staff as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and janitorial duties throughout the facility
  • Provide general maintenance support
  • Assist with front-line operations such as ticket sales, box office support, and event staffing
  • Support special events as needed
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial or industrial cleaning/janitorial work
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, public environment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Must provide a recent Certificate of Conduct and medical certificate; must be bondable

Hours of Work

  • Full-time (40 hours/week) TEMPORARY
  • Generally, Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  •  Evening and weekend work required as needed

Compensation

  • As per Collective Agreement
  • Comprehensive benefits package included
