Fire Truck Usage for Birthday Celebrations

April 4, 2020

NOTICE: We have noticed some Fire Department’s across this province have started to advertise a drive-by of residents properties using Fire Trucks for birthday celebrations. While this is manageable for smaller Town’s. It can be very difficult and overwhelming for the Town of Clarenville Volunteer Fire Department. We have received quite a few requests for Fire Truck drive-by celebrations.

We have no choice but to stop all birthday celebration drive-by requests of Fire Trucks. Every time our trucks are taken out, we are exposing our Fire Fighters to potential infection, we have to fully sanitize the trucks when they return which is using valuable & limited sanitizing supplies. Council would like to take all precautions to ensure the safety of our Fire Fighters and their families so they are able to respond to emergencies!

We understand that a drive-by of the Fire Trucks is a very nice gesture for our kids but with our larger population of kids, this has the potential to snowball out of control using valuable emergency response resources! Government has mandated everyone to stay home unless you have to absolutely go out. This applies to our Fire Fighters also.

We hope you understand this unfortunate decision! Please stay safe!
