The current railway station building, which housed the local customs and telegraph offices, was constructed in 1942.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">On display is a diesel locomotive, passenger car, caboose and other artifacts. The Newfoundland Railway officially ended in 1988. The last train ran on September 30, 1988, marking the conclusion of its operations after nearly a century of service.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">The Clarenville Heritage Museum preserves items pertaining to the railway, shipbuilding, logging and the transatlantic telephone cable which once connected Oban, Scotland to Clarenville in 1955. This was the first voice or telephone sub-sea cable connecting two major continents with Clarenville being the most eastern terminal.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">The museum is a project of the Clarenville Heritage Society. The volunteer-run museum is typically open Wednesday to Sunday from late June to September.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">In addition to the museum, the building is now home to the Shriner Club and Masonic Lodge.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr
